Grease
Stage One Youth Theatre, Ferneham Hall, Fareham
Daily Echo Curtain Call By Karen Robson

Set in Rydell High School, Grease takes the staples of coming of age stories – friendship, first love – and backs it with a cool 1950s inspired sound track.
Stage One Youth Theatre’s exuberant production captured exactly the tone and feel of the period. Under the musical direction of Dennis Brombley, we were presented with beautifully harmonised, totally infectious production numbers that were enhanced by energetic, and above all fun, choreography courtesy of Matt Newman.
Director Jacqui Ivemy has overseen a nicely judged, well paced show, played with energy and confidence and drawing out some strong performances. At the centre, Georgie Cox (Danny) and Jessica Manus (Sandy) sparked well off each other and had some palpable chemistry.
They were backed by an excellent support cast. Of particular note were Ellie Jones (Jan) and Declan Dali-Murphy (Roger), Emily Collins-Wingate (Miss Lynch) and a wonderfully comedic performances from Luke Collins as Eugene.

Letter, Emails to Stage One

To All at Stage One,

Every time I see a show I think it can't get better.......Last night again you proved me wrong (AGAIN). "Grease" was a triumph, from the dancers to the singers, from the leads to the extras it was fantastic.

The sets were brilliant, loved the car, and the ghosts that made the scenery move, also brilliant. The costumes were great, I actually remember wearing clothes like that !!
Thank you all for your hard work and dedication, it was an evening to remember.

WELL DONE.
Jean Sartain, Southampton

Hello to the people in charge of "Stage One",
I saw Stage One's production of Grease with my husband because it is one of my favourite films and was very curious to see what the stage show would be like, and I must say I was blown away! It was good to see so many enthusiastic young performers, and it was lovely to see how inclusive you were of all abilities.
It's unfair to pick out individuals but I thought Danny had great attitude and swagger, Marty was wonderfully sharp and sassy and the Teen Angel had a lovely voice.

With best wishes,

Pamela Lyons

A parent from my school came up to me today and said how great the show was. She said she had been told I was in someway involved with the group and felt she had to come and find me and share how amazing they all were. She said both the singing and acting was fantastic. Wendy Winter

What a wonderful success for all, everyone gave their best. Thanks to all the cast and crew enabling this level of outstanding achievement. Lynda Saunders
